# Off Finance

> Add an expense in seconds, see your month even without internet, and share a vault with your partner. Free on your phone. Available on Android.

Off Finance is an expense tracker for your phone, for everyday spending, alone or with a partner. It started because tracking a couple’s spending in Notion and in spreadsheets took too long on a phone. It’s made so anyone can use it without a tutorial: open the app, add the expense, done. It isn’t a bank, an investment platform, or a payment service, and it never holds or moves money.

Not to be confused with Offin, which is a different app.

- Price: free on your phone, with no account. Sync costs $3.00 (USD) or R$ 12,90 (BRL) a month. Only the owner of a shared vault pays; invited members don’t need their own subscription.
- Works offline: adding entries, budgets, and the month view work without internet. Sync between devices needs internet.
- No bank connection: add entries yourself or use free Expense automation on Android with Google Wallet. With automatic adding on, purchases with category and payment-method rules add themselves. Anything else waits for review.
- Financial data is stored on your phone. With Sync on, a copy is also stored on the server to sync your devices and authorized members of a shared vault.
- Languages: English and Brazilian Portuguese.

Privacy and security:

- Leonardo, who built Off Finance, uses it himself, and made it so your finances stay on your phone unless you sync a vault. A vault syncs only when you have Sync or join someone’s shared vault.
- Synced vaults and your account are stored on Off Finance’s server, with encrypted daily backups. In the app, a synced vault is visible only to you and the people you share it with.
- A few companies run parts of the service for Off Finance: the server, backups, emails, payments, sign-in, and analytics if you turn it on. The Privacy Policy names them.
- Off Finance has no ads and doesn’t sell your data.
- Analytics are off unless you turn them on. They never include amounts, names, notes, what you called your categories, budgets, vaults, or payment methods, or your email, and they use a random ID that isn’t linked to your account.
- To delete analytics, tap “Delete analytics data” in Settings > Privacy. It opens an email to support with your random IDs, and everything sent under them is deleted. Send it before uninstalling or clearing the app’s data, since only your phone knows which IDs are yours.
- You turn it on. Expense automation starts off. It reads notifications only from the wallet apps you enable, today Google Wallet. You can revoke access in Android settings at any time.
- Only the last four digits. For your security, we save only the last four digits of the card from the wallet notification, to identify it, never the full number. We follow the masking principle of the card security standard (PCI DSS). Longer numbers in card labels are masked.
- Clear about what syncs. The review list stays on your phone. With Sync, saved expense details and place and card rules go to our server in the United States. Members of a shared vault can read them.
- Originals are your choice. Sharing original notifications starts off. If the vault owner enables it and the vault has Sync, new captures saved as expenses can share their title, text, source app and time with current members. Turning it off hides shared originals once the change syncs.
- No bank connection. Off Finance doesn’t move money or make payments.
- Expense automation uses optional Android notification access and permission to show its own expense notifications. It does not request access to contacts, location, camera, or microphone. Android also grants install-time permissions for internet, billing and background sync.
- The app also checks for updates without identifying you. Optional supported-app requests send the app name linked to your account.
- To delete your account, email support@off-finance.com from your account’s address. It’s deleted within 30 days and from backups within 90, except billing records the law requires. This doesn’t cancel a Google Play subscription.

Common questions:

- **How does Expense automation work?** Turn it on, allow notification access on Android, and choose a vault. Tap to pay with Google Wallet. With automatic adding on, purchases with rules for both category and payment method add themselves. Anything else waits for review, where you can save rules for next time. It’s free for everyone. Check what is added, since notifications can be missed or read incorrectly.
- **What does Expense automation read?** Only notifications from the wallet apps you enable, today Google Wallet: title, text and time, to find the amount, merchant, card label and last four digits when present. The review list stays on your phone. Saved expenses follow your vault’s Sync settings, and sharing original notifications is a separate option, off by default. You can revoke notification access in Android settings.
- **Does it work offline?** Yes. Record purchases and use your budgets without an internet connection. Sync between devices needs internet.
- **How do recurring bills work?** Set the amount and monthly schedule once. Off Finance adds each occurrence to its month. You can pause or stop the recurring rule when things change.
- **How do installments work?** Enter the total and number of payments. Each installment appears in its own month, with its position and the purchase total.
- **Do I need an account?** No account is needed to track money locally. Create a free account to join a shared vault by invitation. Only its owner needs a paid sync plan.
- **Does everyone sharing need to pay?** No. You can stay on the free plan and join a paid owner’s shared vault by invitation. Only the owner pays. Invited members don’t need their own subscription.
- **Does it connect to my bank?** No. Add entries yourself or use Expense automation with Google Wallet on Android. Off Finance doesn’t move money or make payments.
- **Where is my data saved?** On your phone. With sync enabled, a copy is also stored on the server to sync your devices and authorized vault members.
